November 13th was a special day that marked the birth of a very special person, Ryan Hawks. So with Ryan in our thoughts, skis in tote and birthday balloons in our pockets Henry, Randy, Rob, Peter, myself, SuperMaxMan and Mr.Harkin Banks all packed into the subie and set out for Beehive Basin to celebrate. Regardless of the zone limiting snowpack and the absence of a base it was still one of the better preseason days I’ve ever had. Letting off balloons for Ryan, low angle tree runs, rocky meadows, smooth meadows, fluffy powder and bam! rock jump waiting for us at the bottom. After some solid backflips and stomps off the rock turned aerial jump we retired back to the car, stoked on the day and ready to throw a few back for the birthday boy.
It was through a mutual passion for skiing and life that Ryan had crossed all of our paths at one mountain or another. Whether it was home at Mad River rippin’ through trees or at a FWT venue, hand at the ready for a big high five. His infectious smile and endless words of encouragement will resonate forever. So instead of being sad on this day, we celebrated. And we continue to celebrate Ryan by making each day we live the best it can be, by doing things we love with the people whom we respect, love and share this lifestyle with. Cheers to Hawks! To all the turns, brews, boogie tunes and the never ending inspiration to follow your heart. Peace, Love and Powder
